Message from 2021 JCI Curepipe Local President Satiam Gokool

05 Nov

Dear Members, Senators and Aspiring Members,

Dear Readers,

It is with immense pleasure that I am conveying my third quarterly message as the 2021 JCI Curepipe Local President.

The third quarter of this year has been full of activities which you will have the opportunity to read through the newsletter. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to lead JCI Curepipe in 2021 despite all the challenges and odds that I’m going to share with you some words from my very own experience so far this year.

2021 Local President Satiam Gokool

What Sets JCI Apart

Long-committed JCI members consistently say that what is so special about JCI goes beyond membership benefits. It’s not about what you get, it’s about what you give. One must live the JCI Mission Vision and Values and contribute to creating positive change to find the true benefits of JCI membership.

The unique JCI experience comes from active citizenship and creating positive change; seizing your own power to improve your world; solving a problem in your community; positively impacting the lives of others; finding personal purpose and meaning through the JCI Values; watching your own life improve though living the JCI Mission. Those individuals who become empowered to create positive change, and take responsibility for the future of our world represent the true purpose of our organization.

There will always be a need for positive change. There will always be problems that need solutions. Young people can find opportunities in many ways, but there’s only one place they can find the JCI view of the world. This attitude of active citizenship sets us apart. JCI is not bound by a finite list of opportunities, but embraces a timeless vision of young people everywhere taking action to create positive change.

For 2021, JCI Curepipe was entrusted to organize the 2021 JCI Mauritius The Outstanding Young Person Award which was a huge success and despite the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we did it!!! We found the “Zeness nou fierte” which made our Mauritian flag shine at international level.

2021 has been a year full of activities and projects. This have been possible through the support and guidance of the members, senators and aspiring members. This year marks the 37th year of impact. On this occasion, we’ll have a whole month dedicated to our 37th JCI Curepipe anniversary where we will showcase our Past presidents and Senators, our key milestones/key projects over the year and also views of our members.

My advice to members would be to keep the brotherhood and team spirit alive. I encourage members to participate not only in JCI Curepipe events but also in activities of other local organizations, the national organization and if they have the chance, to attend international conferences as well.

This is most probably the last time I am addressing you as JCI Curepipe Local President in our newsletter. We have achieved far beyond our expectations in terms of membership growth and empowerment, long term partnerships, community development and visibility of the organization. However, we still have a long way to go to fulfil our mission and accomplish our vision. I am confident that future of our organization is in good hands and the 2022 Local Board Elect under the leadership of Hanusha Cheddy we will move forward together.

Before ending, I would like to thank my dear board members, senators and aspiring members for their support, help and guidance till now. Special thanks to Editor-in-Chief Manish Boodram and his team for the wonderful job done in releasing our third newsletter.

Yours in JCI Spirit,

Satiam Gokool

2021 JCI Curepipe President
