Message from JCI Mauritius Senate Chairperson – Ryad Subratty

14 Jul

Dear Members and Senators,

It is again a privilege and honor to write a few words in the newsletter of JCI Curepipe.

Our country has already embarked in the post pandemic period after a successful control of the disease outbreak and flattening the curve. Mauritius is now in a recovery period while a global recession is expected to be at it’s deepest in eight decades. The changes wrought by the epidemic will likely not fade in a nearby future. Yet the desire for a return to pre-lockdown “normal life” grows stronger.

The question today is how our organization will adapt to the new normal? There are five critical areas on which Local Organizations will have to focus. Local Presidents will have to prioritize and effectively plan for the “new normal” as we navigate through unchartered waters.

  • Focus on the JCI mission and Vision
  • Board leadership and engagement
  • Financial management
  • Adaptation of action plan and strategic plan post pandemic
  • Members retention and transformation

The mission and vision helps us to align our projects as per the JCI Core Philosophy which will inspire confidence, unite communities and create sustainable impact. In this process, the board of directors will engage themselves to create and implement strategies, policies, and procedures that will enable the organization to be financially sound. Members will have to be empowered to embrace new ideas, take concrete actions and this will help grow our global network.

Let us be the platform that enables young people to turn challenges into opportunities and connect to drive the world in a positive direction. This has never been needed more than now…

Ryad Subratty

2020 JCI Mauritius Senate Chairperson
