Dear Readers
It is with immense pleasure that am conveying you my second quarterly message as 2020 JCI Curepipe Local President.
We have reached midyear already and it’s the time of the year where we usually look back on our achievements. The first half of 2020 was probably the hardest time millennials have ever seen. The whole world came to a stop and so did our daily routine. Things changed, and in order to survive we had to evolve by adopting new habits and blend with the new normal.
Thankfully JCI Curepipe was a fast follower to the ever growing online Covid-19 trend. Things we usually did during physical meeting found its place being organised online. JCI Curepipe organised a Series of Online webinars/Trainings and the results are astonishing.
Around 800 participants on zoom with an average viewing time of 100 minutes per participant. We collaborated with 14 countries, things we would probably never done during normal times. The worldwide lockdown created a huge spark in the internet usage. People was more connected than ever before. The partnership/relationship we have created with other JCI Local Organisations in the world resulted in having participants in 50 countries, out of which we had a total of 42 prominent speakers. Our zoom webinars were also broadcasted on Facebook and over there we had a total of 12,000 views on our Videos. Things we should all be very proud of, because despite a moment of severe uncertainty JCI Curepipe still lived up to the expectations of its members. As the Local President I am truly blessed to be surrounded by devoted members who didn’t gave up their guard and dove head down to hunt the new opportunities that presented in front of them.
We Jaycees, as we are called. I must say that yes, we do form part of an essential service. As famously quoted in our JCI Creed ‘ Service to Humanity is the best work of life’. Each of us have different philosophy of what JCI is all about. But one thing we all act upon is our ‘Mission and Vison’ which brings a true purpose to our personal life.
The Covid-19 fight is not yet over. We will not give up on our beloved country and we will do whatever it takes to survive. Because we are Active Citizens, We are Jaycees, We are Members of JCI Curepipe.
Truly Yours
Kishan Rughobur
