Recognitions of New Senators

05 Apr

In 2019, JCI Curepipe recognised three new senators; Senator Veenandi Lallah, Senator Heveen Sharma Kejiou and Senator Lokhesh Ujhoodha. More than 50 years ago, the JCI Senate was established to recognize the outstanding achievements and service of JCI members worldwide. JCI Senators display determination and leadership and are encouraged to stay connected and provide support throughout the entirety of their lives. JCI Senatorships are a great way to show outstanding members their value to the organization. The JCI Senate is an honor that lasts a lifetime.

Senator Veenandi Lallah

Joined JCI in 2008, the latter has since then not missed a year to lead or be active on a project. The latter has led projects at National Level such as National Best Business Plan Competition and the UN Global Compact Forum, a plethora of community projects and above all she founded new collaborations. Equipped with determination to bring a change, Senator Veenandi has been a motivator to many, a mentor to many local presidents and board members. She has led JCI Curepipe as 2014 Local President.  As 30th President of JCI Curepipe under the motto Learn More, Act More and Become More, her year was not an easy one but she pulled through and we were rewarded as the Best Local Organisation and she obtained the Most Outstanding Local President Award. We proudly recognise Veenandi Lallah for her commitment to our local organisation as Senator 78453.

Senator Heveen Sharma Kejiou

Dear JCI Members and Senators,

It gives me immense pleasure to address you all as a New Senator. Being Senator now open a new horizon for me to be in service to our JCI members, not only in Mauritius but all around the world.  I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to my local Organization, JCI Curepipe for giving me such prestigious recognition during the 2019 JCI Active Citizen Day. My JCI adventure had started in November 2011, where I was sworn in as member during the 2011 JCI World President banquet. Since then, I have embraced different leadership positions up to becoming 2019 JCI Mauritius National President.  Throughout my 8 great years in JCI, I have acquired tremendous knowledge on different aspects of life.  Thanks to JCI, I have been travelling around the world, to countries I have never imagined to be there before. And this adventure will keep on going for decades to come.

Indeed, JCI is a school of life where you embarked on a transformational journey.

Yours in JCI Spirit

Senator Lokhesh Ujhoodha

I joined JCI in 2015 and attended my first JCI Area Conference in Sandton in 2016. 2016 was a special year, when we had our JCI Mauritius Senate Chairperson Senator Ryad Subratty as the 2016 JCI Vice President and also a delegation of 22 members from JCI Mauritius going to South Africa for the conference. The experience, which will fall short described by words, changed my perspective on JCI and I have never since missed an area A conference! Luckily for you(the reader), I have documented bits and pieces of the conferences that I have attended

In 2017, we won the bid to host the 2019 JCI Africa and the Middle East Conference and I was assigned to be the conference director by the hosting local organisation, JCI Curepipe. The conference was a huge success with more than 400 delegates coming to Mauritius!

I have always been lucky to be supported and mentored by senators throughout my journey as a member. I am looking forward to continuing this journey as a member, senator and to live up to the expectations of being a senator from JCI Mauritius.

Yours in JCI Spirit
Senator 78452
Lokhesh Ujhoodha
