2019 JCI Active Citizens Day

05 Apr

Dear Readers,

Each year, the JCI celebrates JCI Active Citizen Day on 11th December.  It  is considered among the most important event in the life of all Jaycees not only for Mauritius but around the world. It is among the most important event in the life of all Jaycees around the world.

Last year, JCI Active Citizens Day was hosted by JCI Curepipe. The yearly event was co-directed by JCI Curepipe 2019 Local Secretary Kishan Rughobur and 2019 Local Vice President Krish-Nee Poorun (Myself). It was a great experience to mark the end of year in JCI style at a different venue which was held at Mont Choisy Le Golf on Saturday 7th December 2019.

Exceptionally that evening, it started with the 2019 JCI Africa and The Middle East Conference(AMEC) Award Ceremony, the purpose was to award members and conference organising directors for their endless contribution before and during the conference.

The night started with swearing in of Elected Local and National officers and New Members take the oath of serving the organisation. I take this opportunity to welcome all the New JCI Curepipe members who swore in and to wish them a long and fruitful JCI career.

Later during the night, the second part was to formally recognize JCI Mauritius members’ contribution who excel in successful projects by creating positive change and their achievements, they were recognized with certificates, trophies and gifts.

For JCI Curepipe, I am very proud to say that we have received 11 awards. For all achievements, all have been possible with help of our senators and past presidents for their support, to project directors for leading the initiatives and making JCI Curepipe an active organisation, to members and aspiring members who are constantly fostering brotherhood in the organisation.

A big thanks also got to the 2019 Local President Karishma Ansaram who have worked very hard the whole year to make JCI Curepipe twinkle for the 4th Consecutive year.

As co-project director, it was indeed a unique experience to be part of this project.

On an ending note, my special thanks go to Senator Veenandi Lallah and all team members for their support in making this project a hit.

Krish-Nee Poorun
