Message from 2019 JCI Curepipe Local President- Karishma Ansaram

14 Apr

Dear Readers,

It is with immense pleasure that I am sharing the first quarter message as Local President.

As I am writing my message, time is ticking for the most awaited event for this year, 2019 JCI Africa and The Middle East Conference. The time to rejoice two years’ hardwork is just around the corner. It is with great pride that I wish to share about JCI Curepipe members, senators and aspiring members involvement in making of the conference and also seize the opportunity to thank them for their contribution. I invite you all to attend the conference that shall take place from 1st to 4th May 2019 at Intercontinental Hotel and Resorts, Balaclava Mauritius- let’s experience the ‘I’ in JCI.

Amongst the hustle of hosting the conference, our members and aspiring members are still impacting through various initiatives. We launched the Sports Club in February 2019, an initiative to promote health and well being and why not use it for bonding amongst members! We have been awarded the Most Impactful ACF Project for our Neighbourhood Watch Sessions last year and it has now been adopted as a National Flagship project by JCI Mauritius. We are continuing the work at grassroot level regarding the project.

Since start of the year, we have already had 20 percent membership growth in terms of new members sworn in and around 7 new aspiring members joining us. We have carried out a training needs analysis for our members and have hosted a training on Applied Research Methods for NGOs, a useful training for ACF projects and needs analysis. We also embarked on the Local Strategic Planning for 2019- 2023 so as to align to JCI Strategic Goals. We reconnected with our Past Presidents through a President’s Meet Up held in Mid February.

This year we shall not wait for opportunities but rather create our own opportunities through our initiatives. We have more promising projects in the pipeline and look forward to impacting more in our communities. Stay tune for more updates coming soon.

Before ending my message, I would like to thank my local board members and JCI Curepipe family for their contribution and support to the organisation, especially for the conference. Special thanks to the Editor-In-Chief Vedish for having took up the opportunity for launching our first newsletter edition for 2019.

Wishing you happy reading
