15 Jul

Dear Readers,

It is with immense pleasure that I am conveying you my second message as the 2018 Local President. The second quarter of this year has been full with various activities that JCI Curepipe has been conducting.

We started with the launching of the ‘Peace Begins with Me’ Manual during the World Book Day Festival on the 3rd of May. We then conducted a Blood Drive with our CSR partner SRG Services Ltd and Thalassemia Society in Mauritius on the 8th of May. On the 9th of May, we organised the first neighbourhood watch session at Forest Side where we had registered 45 people.

In the context of the Mother’s Day celebration, JCI Curepipe in collaboration with AB InBev visited the Foyer Trochetia for donation and sharing of some moments. On the World Environmental Day; 5th of June 2018, we launched an environmental project which was registered with UN Environment – “Take on the Challenge; 21 Days, 21 Green Actions” which was geared toward focussing on green actions and awareness. On Music Day celebration, JCI Curepipe in the collaboration with SRG Services Ltd, donated some instruments to an NGO Lizie Dan La Main.

We are glad to announce that we have established contacts with all our twinning chapters with whom, we shall be working on at least one sustainable project this year. JCI Vohitr’larivo has already accepted to distribute the peace manual developed by JCI Curepipe to schools in Madagascar. We also have the pleasure to announce that we successfully signed a twinning agreement with JCI Abomey Calavi-Elite of Benin during the 2018 JCI Africa and The Middle East Conference 2018 in Cotonou, Benin. We shall soon be working on some projects.

Some of our upcoming activities are the neighbourhood watch sessions in Curepipe regions, the mental health project, teens in control workshops and the alumni event. It is to be noted that the registration for the National Conference is open and we hope that more people will register to this conference. For 2019 JCI AMEC, I am glad to see the motivation and support of the directors under the leadership of the COC Director Lokhesh. I firmly believe that with the support of everyone, this will turn out to be a wonderful conference.

Before ending, I would like to thank the board members, senators, members and aspiring members for their support till now. Special thanks to Editor in Chief Kishan Rughobur and his team for the wonderful job done.
