Welcome to the third edition of the “Jaycee Eye”. First of all, a big thanks and congrats to my star editorial team for
the successful launch of the newsletter.
The third quarter has been very eventful, the main focus being the Peace Is Possible campaign. After a fruitful collaboration with AIESEC Mauritius to set up a Peace Wall during the Global Village, JCI Curepipe commemorated Peace Day by organizing a Peace walk and concert at the Municipality of Curepipe. An activity which saw the participation of several NGOs from Curepipe as well as a sustainable partnership with the Municipal Council of Curepipe. We also partnered with Global Dignity Mauritius to celebrate Global Dignity Month with a Peace Forum under the theme “Peace through Dignity”.
The month of September was marked by the African and Middle East Senate Association (AMESA) Summit whereby our members and aspiring members had the opportunity to bond with several delegates across Africa and experience an international conference. We also welcomed four new members during the Gala Dinner.
We have also launched our ACF Project “Anou Compran Nou Société” which aims at promoting family values amongst youngsters. Two events were organized in this context namely a creativity and sharing activity with kindergarten kids at Mahebourg and a lunch with senior citizens from Mere Augustine shelter at Rose-Belle
My advice to members would be to keep the brotherhood and team spirit alive. I encourage members to participate not only in JCI Curepipe events but also in activities of other local organizations, the national organization and if they have the chance, to attend international conferences as well.
This is most probably the last time I am addressing you as JCI Curepipe Local President in our newsletter. The year 2016 has been full of learning opportunities, wonderful adventures and impactful experiences. We have achieved far beyond our expectations in terms of membership growth and empowerment, long term partnerships, community development and visibility of the organization. However, we still have a long way to go to fulfil our mission and accomplish our vision. I am confident that future of our organization is in good hands and the 2017 Local Board Elect under the leadership of Veerendra Kooshna will raise JCI Curepipe beyond the stars.
