The JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (JCI CYEA) is an international award designed to recognize recognize, honor and celebrate exceptional young entrepreneurs and the role of creativity in their success.
JCI CYEA is awarded to a creative young entrepreneur who has started a new business using creativity in product development, service development, and in their approach to the market. Or, one has taken an existing business and incorporated creativity to solve a problem, or change a process, to create positive change in their business operations. The winner’s creative business must not only be innovative, but also abide, in some way, to the UN Global Compact’s ten principles, regarding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). [jci.cc]
This year JCI Mauritius CYEA was organised by JCI Curepipe, along with the help of other local organisations, and with a twist! Unlike the previous years where the winner was awarded a cash prize. This year we decided to give a long term reward to the winner, a guidance which would help the winner throughout one whole year in his business. This 1 year coaching and mentoring of the winner was graciously sponsored by Softskills Consultants Ltd.
Registration for participants was kicked off by a press conference on the 15th of October.
Then after that the registration was closed, we hosted a business seminar on “Successful Entrepreneurs and Coaching” at Middlesex University which was free for all participants. The business seminar was conducted by Senator Bruneau Woomed and was a success.
Finally, we hosted the long awaited awards night ceremony on the 5th of December. The jury panel consisted of qualified entrepreneurs notably, JCI Mauritius Past National President and Jury Chairperson: Senator Bruneau Woomed, Managing Director of SoftskillsConsultants Ltd: Mr Kesho Gooriah , and the President of Association Mauricienne des Chefs d’Entreprise: Mrs Marie France Chamary.

To conclude, we were extremely happy with the results of the program. We were able to identify an extremely special creative young entrepreneur, Ashley Boodhoo, at the right time. Given the raging issue of climate change and Sustainable Innovation Forum 2015 COP21 (in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme) happening in Paris this month, moving towards efficient and responsible energy solutions are definitely among the priorities of the planet and Enerxis is doing just that.
