Message from JCI Mauritius National President Nousrina Peerbux

20 May

nousrinaDear Members, Senators and Aspiring members,

First, I wish to express my thanks to Local President Heveen, Local Board members and newsletter team for inviting me to share my message for the first issue of JCI Curepipe newsletter.

This year is an ambitious one for your local organisation, with a plan of action shaped and inspired on a powerful theme… Raise Yourself To Help Mankind. With this motto, you have set your priorities and it brings to my mind the wise words from the political leader and praised author, Booker T. Washington who said that “if you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”

This philosophy is linked to the JCI one, tinted in two words “Be Better”. In every enterprise this year, every action taken, every small act to fulfill your duty not only as a member, or as an aspiring member or as a senator, but also as a citizen of the world, as a family member, or during the course of your work, I invite you to remember your motto and encourage you to challenge yourself everyday to do better and be better.

Three months down and in front of you, lies mountains to conquer. I share with you my apprehension that we may not have enough time to climb them all, as we are here, together, looking at the same landscape. But we all know that what lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you. We started this year by trusting the potential of each and every one of you to make our organisation a better one and for the first three months you have shown us that you share our belief.

The National board seizes this opportunity to send our gratitude to JCI Curepipe for its participation in our challenging implementations since the start of this year. With your help, we have propagated the Good Governance notion, the principles of Good treasury and transparency, the promotion of Internationalism and the 100th celebrations. For the next quarter, we are focusing on connections. JCI Alumni program is now out and we will do our best to promote it.

This year is a unique one for our organisation, as we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the JCI movement. A year of excitement and also a year of opportunity to connect or reconnect our members, senators, aspiring members and past members, with the JCI history, philosophy and values. Your organisation being one of the founder organisations of JCI Mauritius, and having recently celebrated 30 years, has a glorious history to share and fantastic opportunities for connection. Your hall of fame of projects, members and senators who are role models and who inspire young active citizens, is amazing.

Last but not least, I wish to seize this opportunity to recognise the wonderful initiative of your organisation to host the 2015 JCI Mauritius Creative Young Entrepreneur Award. The promotion of entrepreneurship is close to our JCI values and we are certain that the dynamic team working on it will shine.

Let’s Unite to Impact in 2015,

Yours in JCI Spirit,

Nousrina Peerbux

2015 JCI Mauritius National President
