Dear Members, Senators, Aspiring Members and Friends,
It is with great joy and honour that I am addressing you as the 2015 Local President of JCI Curepipe in this first edition of the JCI Curepipe newsletter.
On the 1st of January 2015, I assumed my official responsibilities as the 31st Local President of JCI Curepipe. At first, I was apprehensive about what 2015 had in store and whether I will be able to fill the shoes of my predecessors or not. However, I can proudly affirm that with the hard work of the board members, the dedication of the members and aspiring members and the unflinching support of past presidents and senators, JCI Curepipe has achieved a lot in the first quarter. We, members of JCI Curepipe have formed a team so powerful that there is nothing we cannot do once we set our minds on it.
This is our year. This is your year.
As you all know, the JCI Curepipe motto for 2015 is “Raise Yourself To Help Mankind – RYTHM ”. This is an abridgement for the goals of 2015, which is to raise ourselves as one JCI Curepipe family towards excellence so as to bring more impact in our community. I am proud to say that the members of JCI Curepipe are empowering themselves as well as other members of the community to become responsible, independent and active citizens.
This year, JCI Curepipe is working on many projects, namely Health Campaign 2015, JCI Curepipe Green Society which emphasizes on environment and wildlife preservation and our favorite Handisports project is also in the pipeline. These projects have been designed using the Active Citizenship Framework and are aimed at creating positive changes in our community. They are also platforms for our members to raise themselves in order to achieve new heights both on a personal and professional level.
This year, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of JCI. In this context, we have tailored our projects so that we can bring positive changes to at least 100 citizens of Mauritius. We have already started this massive initiative. However, we still have a long joyful way to go.
It is with great satisfaction that I note that JCI Curepipe members are working hard as one team to achieve wonders and conquer the hearts of Mauritians. 2015 is without doubt a challenging year. However, I believe that if your vision is not big enough that it scares you, then it is not big enough.
Once again, thank you all for giving me this golden opportunity to serve you.
Genuine success comes only to those who are ready for it. So never step back and always have courage, to accept new challenges.
In service to Humanity.
Heveen Sharma KEJIOU
