Message from 2014 JCI Curepipe President Veenandi Luximon

20 May

me

Dear Members, Senators, Aspiring Members and friends,

2015 has started with new hopes and aspirations. I am particularly pleased to see active and commendable participation of many members during this first quarter. I believe that together we are making measured progress towards achieving the objective of our organisation.

The year gone-by might have shown its share of grim state of affairs. Nevertheless, by staying united as ONE team we overcame all challenges. We had our share of successes too and it was only your enthusiasm, passion and commitment to serve the organisation selflessly that made the difference. Someone rightly said that the right attitude takes you to the right altitude and you have proved this through your actions. I thank you with all my heart for this great spirit of brotherhood and fellowship and the support you extended to me in my journey of Presidency.

Leading an organisation like JCI Curepipe is a real challenge, given the legacy left by our predecessors. However, being surrounded with amazing people who share the true values of JCI has helped me to overcome every struggle easily and accept all successes with most humility. Indeed, I can say that the beauty of JCI resides in its people.

I have learnt a lot from you and in your own way you have all been an inspiration to me. I do hope that during my tenure you too have had the chance to learn, act, serve, grow more and inspire other people around you as true leaders of this organisation. Thank you JCI Curepipe for this great opportunity to have served you as the 2014 Local President.

I ended the term of my mandate as the 2014 JCI Curepipe President with a mixture of satisfaction, gratitude, and relief. No, not with regret, as I feel strongly that it’s time for someone else to take over. I am therefore extremely happy that we found in Heveen a wonderfully energetic and creative new Local President with a team of motivated board members. I am sure that with Heveen at the helm, JCI Curepipe will achieve new heights of success. I would like you to join me in wishing him and the new board a successful year 2015.

I urge all members to extend their support to the new board and keep the core objectives of JCI Curepipe in focus as we move ahead. More than ever, our continuing engagement and contributions will be critical to the success and sustainability of our organisation. I will reiterate my previous message again to you all. I firmly believe that JCI Curepipe has a future in Mauritius and a key role to play in creating impact in our community. I believe together as one team JCI Curepipe members can help shape a better future for Mauritius. We only need to be more ambitious. We need to look where we as members of JCI Curepipe can make a difference in our local communities. We need to make sure that if Mauritius wakes up tomorrow without JCI Curepipe, we’d be missed – in our local communities all across the country.

As I conclude, dear friends, this year as we celebrate the JCI 100th year of impact, let our resolution for 2015 be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of JCI, in the finest sense of the word and together as ONE we shall raise ourselves and help each other, build a stronger and sustainable JCI organisation and make the difference for another 100 years and more.

So let’s Commit, Connect and Care for a better JCI and world around us.

With a smile now I commit to serve you as your 2015 JCI Curepipe Immediate Past President.

Yours in JCI Spirit
