It is with immense pleasure that I’m writing in this edition of the Jaycee Eye as the Immediate Past President of JCI Curepipe.
Looking back, it’s almost surreal how time flies so fast. I can still recall the mixed emotions, apprehension, anxiety, and at the same time, excitement when I took over the presidency in 2010. With the dedication and hard work of the 2010 JCI Curepipe board members, and the dynamic participation of the members, we have attained our objectives set in the beginning of 2010, which were mostly focused on membership growth, increasing the visibility of JCI Curepipe and maintaining the brotherhood between members.
As the 2010 President, not only have I gained the fulfillment of leading such wonderful and intelligent persons, but more importantly, I have gained the gift of remarkable memories and lifetime friendships. 2010 was one of the years that made a big mark for JCI Curepipe. It was the year where the chapter has shone through projects which catered for the needs of the members and those projects earned us eminent recognition in the local and national community. It was the year that we were able to strengthen ties. Because of the projects and activities that we have worked on together as one great team, we were able to identify and make use of our strengths and weaknesses which have prepared us all for bigger challenges ahead.
Through the leadership of 2011 JCI Curepipe President Arvind Neergheen and his board members, I am very confident and positive that JCI Curepipe will continue to reach greater heights. As we look forward to a more exciting and promising 2011, I would like to thank everyone for their support and commitment in 2010 and I hope that each one of you has found that being a member of our organisation is a truly fulfilling one. I challenge everyone to take a more active role in the direction of our organisation for the coming year under the leadership of Local President Arvind, so that you can feel the same sense of accomplishment that I feel when it will be your turn to look back.
Let us all continue to be inspired to work for others and serve the organisation to make a difference in our own way through JCI.
